Nursing Self Assessment
A nursing self assessment is the
first step to do in determining whether or not you should go into
travel nursing. Analyzing
yourself is not meant to be harsh. It is to look at
who you are, who you are as a nurse and what you stand for. Are
you the type of nurse who can walk into a new hospital or
facility, start a new
assignment with only a day or two of orientation, work a
contract of 4 to 13 weeks or longer and
then move on to another assignment or negotiate another contract with
the agency and hospital? Does your qualities include
being a self-starter, having high standards for yourself and the
nursing job that you do? Do
you have good people skills, a positive attitude and are you able to
adapt to change? Are you confident in your clinical skills and
work ethic? Do you follow direction or instruction well? Do
you
get along well with other people? Can you fit in easily?
What
about being able to listen, take advice or help out other nurses when
needed? Are your decision making skills adequate?Being
a
successful travel nurse depends on the above nursing self assessment
and how you answered the questions. By doing this type of
analyzing and assessment you will be able to determine if travel
nursing is for you. If
you like people and can answer the above questions with a yes and a
smile then
you passed your nursing self assessment and you
are probably a good candidate for travel nursing.
